Amandeep Drall and Vani Kapoor led the way in the fourth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata on Tuesday.
While Amandeep fired a one-under 69, Vani returned a level par 70 as the duo who will focus on the Ladies European Tour next month led the pack by a shot.
For the second time in as many weeks, third-placed Shweta Mansingh started well and was third alongside Astha Madan and Khushi Khanijau.
Last week’s runner-up Jasmine Shekar was tied sixth in a big bunch that included Neha Tripathi, Seher Atwal and amateur Janneya Dasanniee. They all shot two-over 72s each.
Amandeep bogeyed the first two holes but made up with two birdies before she dropped a third shot before the turn.
On the back nine successive birdies on 11 and 12 gave her some space, but another dropped shot on 13 saw her at level par again. A closing birdie meant a one-under 69.
Roller-coaster start
Vani Kapoor too had a roller-coaster start, going bogey-birdie-bogey-birdie in the first five holes.
A bogey on eight was followed by a string of pars with one birdie on 12 as she finished on a 70.
Shweta had four birdies against five bogeys, as did Astha Madan, while Khushi Khanijau had four bogeys and three birdies in a row from 13 to 15.
Jasmine Shekar, who had a great week at RCGC before losing in a playoff, was four-over through five holes, but recovered with three birdies and one bogey in the remaining holes.
