Vani Kapoor’s experience and ability to handle pressure saw her edge out overnight leader Anvvi Dahhiya in a three-hole play-off at the DLF leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour on Friday.
Vani, the most prolific winner in Hero WPGT history, came from behind to tie Anvvi at 1 over par 217 after 54 holes and force the playoff, the WGAI said.
In what turned into an all-Gurgaon battle, Vani trailed Anvvi by one shot at the start but was ahead by the turn at the Rs 17 lakh event.
On the back nine, Anvvi fought back with three birdies against one bogey to tie the tournament total.
Vani had three birdies against one bogey on the front nine for a 2 under card and Anvvi had two birdies against three bogeys, 1 over for the stretch, a swing of two shots in Vani’s favour.
However, on the back nine Vani had no birdies against one bogey, while Anvvi had three birdies and two dropped shots, leaving the tied.
The play-off failed to break the deadlock for two holes before Vani came, leaving Anvvi in second place. It was the senior player’s second win of the season.

High scores
Only Vani and Saanvi Somu went under par and Anvvi had a par round. Overall, the week saw only five scores of under and no player shot it more than once.
Behind Vani and Anvvi, third place went to Ridhima Dilawari (74) while Nayanika Sanga (74) was fourth on 222.
Jasmine Shekar and Tvesa Malik were tied for fifth, Saanvi Somu and Mannat Brar shared seventh place and Lavanya Jadon was ninth.
Amateur Anuradha Chaudhuri, Kashika Misra and Vidhatri Urs, who led on the first day, rounded off the top 10.
Ridhima continues to lead the Hero Order of Merit with Vani second and Jasmine Shekar third.
Next up for the top women golfers will be October’s Hero Women’s Indian Open also at the DLF Golf and Country Club.
