Six top women amateurs from India, have received entries for the 2021 Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific (WAAP) to be held in Abu Dhabi from November 10 to 13, it has been learnt.
The WAAP will follow the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship (APAC) for men scheduled in Dubai the previous week.
The six receiving entries for WAAP 2021 are Sifat Sagoo, Sneha Singh and Avani Prashanth (invited by organisers) and Anika Varma, Nishna Patel and Kriti Chowhan (Indian Golf Union nominees).
All six entries are as per the individual player’s World Amateur Golf Ranking.
While Anika Varma and Sifat Sagoo as based in the US, Avani Prashanth, Sneha Singh and Nishna Patel are playing in the resumed women’s pro tour.
According to an IGU note on Friday, the team will land in Abu Dhabi on November 7 with the event scheduled to end on November 13.
The note said, “The IGU has received by name and also nominated an Invite to participate in the 2021 WAAP from 8-13 November 2021 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
“The team shall arrive in Abu Dhabi on 7 November and depart Abu Dhabi on 14 November 2021.

“Currently, the UAE Government is issuing Visas to Indian Passport Holders only if you’re fully vaccinated with WHO-approved vaccines (Covishield).
“Please confirm latest by tomorrow, 12 pm, if you are fully vaccinated by WHO approved vaccine and you will be able to participate in the subject event.
”Please also confirm your departure and arrival Country and City to and fro from Abu Dhabi for this event.”

The WAAP was launched in 2018 and held for a second time the following year. This will be the third edition of the championship.
According to the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, “The winner earns invitations to play in two Major championships – the AIG Women’s British Open and The Evian Championship – as well as an exemption for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
“The championship has an ‘Elite’ status in the women’s WAGR.”
