Sneha Singh turned in the week’s best card of 3-under par 69 to set up a massive five-shot win in the Hero women’s pro tour event at Golden Greens Golf Club on Friday.

Sneha’s error-free card gave her a 3-under 213 aggregate in the eighth leg of the season and a third win on the professional tour while still an amateur.

The Hyderabad girl’s final round of 69 had birdies on the second, seventh and 18th holes, and she was five clear of fellow-amateur Khushi Hooda (72), who was 2-over 218 for the 54 holes.

Sneha (17), a student of DPS, Khajaguda in Hyderabad, is coached by her father Sanjay.

Playing golf since the age of six, Sneha has now won on the Hero WPG Tour once each in 2019 (in Hyderabad), 2020 (in Noida) and now in 2021 at Gurgaon.

Top pro

Avani Prashanth, tied for second overnight, never recovered from a double-bogey start and two other bogeys in her first five holes for a 3-over 75.

She was tied fourth with seventh leg winner Jahanvi Bakshi (75) on 4-over 220.

Hitaashee Bakshi (73) was sixth, while yet another amateur Vidhatri Urs (77) and Shweta Mansingh (71) were tied for seventh.

In all there were three amateurs in the top five and four in the top eight, indicating the depth of talent waiting to join the professional ranks.

Sneha never looked in trouble after having started the final round in the sole lead with a one-shot advantage over Siddhi, Jahanvi and Avani.

Untroubled

Even as the others dropped shots, the Hyderabad-based teenager picked up three birdies without any damage to her card for a comfortable win.

At the DLF course last week too, Sneha had looked well set before a late slump robbed her of a top finish.

Khushi, also an amateur, started with a birdie but bogeyed eight and 10 before picking a final birdie on 18.

For Siddhi, the middle of the round was forgettable as she dropped a shot on every hole from eight to 11 and ended the day on 74 despite three birdies.

Avani started with a double and bogeys on two, five and 10 and never recovered for a card of 75.

Lakhmehar Pardesi, Khushi Khanijau, Saaniya Sharma and Afshan Fatima were tied for ninth place.
