Seher, Sneha share day one lead with amateur Mannat at BGC

Seher Atwal, Sneha Singh and amateur Mannat Brar shared the opening day lead at the Hero WPGT 11^th leg at Bangalore Golf Club on Wednesday.

Seher Atwal, flying in straight after her Singapore Ladies Masters outing, produced two birdies in the last four holes to finish on 2-over 69 at the p-67 course.

It was good enough to give her a share of the lead after the first round alongside Sneha and Mannat Brar, who birdied the closing hole.

Tvesa Malik dropped three shots in a row in the middle of the round but managed to bring in a 3 over 70 and a share of fourth place alongside Durga Nittur and Ananya Datar.

Late recovery

Seher opened with a string of six pars and a double bogey before dropping a further two shots after the turn. Three more pars followed before she birdied twice in the last four holes.

Sneha also had a tough day with four bogeys against two birdies.

With amateurs doing well in recent weeks on the tour, Mannat ensured the trend would continue.

She began bogey-birdie-bogey and added a third bogey to turn in 2-over. She then swapped bogey for birdie to stay on 69 for the day.

Gaurika Bishnoi making a return after missing the last two legs had one birdie in her 4-over 71 and was tied seventh with Gauri Karhade.

Oviya Reddi, Jasmine Shekar, Hitaashee Bakshi, Saaniya Sharma, Shweta Mansingh and amateur Prakruthi Sastry shot 5-over 72s and were tied ninth.

Last week’s winner, Neha Tripathi had a rough round, returning a 6-over 73 with two double bogeys and two bogeys for tied 15^th.
