Teenage rookie Riya Jadon held a one-shot lead after the opening day of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour’s seventh leg in Mysore on Thursday.
The 17-year-old carded a 3 under par 67 to lead a field packed with experienced players at the par-70 Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Course, the WGAI said.
Riya closed out her opening round with two birdies, to lead the Hero-supported Tvesa Malik who returned a 2 under 68.
The Gurgaon-based Riya, who trains at the DLF Golf Academy, also had Anvvi Dahhiya and Vidhatri Urs, the only other golfers to come in under par with 69s in her wake.
Amandeep Drall and Karishma Govind shot level par 70s each.
Riya, who won the IGU Pune Ladies Championship in November 2025, turned pro earlier this season and shared third place in the third leg at Pune’s Oxford Golf Resort, which Tvesa won.
The day one leader opened with a birdie before she bogeyed hole six and birdied seven to turn in 1-under.
On the back nine she parred the first seven holes and closed birdie-birdie.
Late revival
Tvesa also opened with a birdie but suffered back-to-back bogeys on the fourth and the fifth to go one-over. She hit back with three birdies on the back nine for her 68.
Both Anvvi and Vidhatri had three birdies against two bogeys in their 69s.
Amandeep had four birdies but she dropped a double bogey and two bogeys, one of which came on the 18th. Karishma had three birdies and three bogeys.
Neha Tripathi, Ananya Garg, Durga Nittur and amateur Ananyaa Sood were tied for seventh at 71 each.
Among the well-known names down the order were Vani Kapoor (72) in T11, and amateur Zara Anand and Seher Atwal with 73s in T16.
Three-time winner this season, Ridhima Dilawari made a disappointing start with 77 that included three bogeys and two doubles.
Ridhima won the second, fourth and sixth legs of the Tour and holds a sizeable lead over the field on the Hero Order of Merit standings.
The tournament at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Course heralds the start of the second half of the 2026 domestic season.
