The 2019 Tata Steel Professional Golf Tour of India Feeder Tour season tees off on Wednesday with the first event to be played at the BSF Golf Club in Chhawla, New Delhi.

The season will feature six tournaments with a prize purse of Rs. 8 lakh each.

A statement from the Professional Golf Tour of India noted that as a general rule, the top 60 players from the 2018 PGTI Order of Merit are not eligible to play on the Feeder Tour in 2019.

However, two spots will be allocated at all the Feeder Tour events for the top 60 from the 2018 Order of Merit. The winner of this year’s Feeder Tour Order of Merit earns exemption on the main tour for the 2020 season.

Exemptions

The two PGTI players in the field for the opening three-day event at Chhawla are two-time Asian Tour winner Rashid Khan and PGTI winner Akshay Sharma. The field in the season-opener will feature a total of 72 players.

Khan incidentally continues to be involved in his protracted dispute for entry and playing rights at the Delhi Golf Club along with a number of others.

The tour then moves to the Aravalli Golf Club in Faridabad from July 23 to 25. The third event will be at the Madhuban Meadows Golf Club in Karnal from August 21 to 23 while the fourth will be hosted by the Golden Greens Golf Club near Gurgaon from August 27 to 29.

Action then shifts to Lucknow for the sixth leg to be played at The Palms Golf Club & Resort from September 11 to 13 while the sixth and last leg is scheduled at a new venue, the Jaypee Greens Wish Town course in Noida, from September 17 to 19.

This is the maiden professional event at the picturesque Jaypee Greens Wish Town course.
