The Rs 1 crore Nissan Delhi-NCR Open will see Gaurav Pratap Singh returns to defend his 2023 title in a strong field on home turf, the Noida Golf Course, from Wednesday.

Indian Open joint runner-up Veer Ahlawat leads a star cast of 126 that includes two-time winner of the national open Shiv Shankar Prasad Chawrasia, former Tata Steel PGTI rankings toppers Manu Gandas and Rashid Khan, the in-form Aman Raj, Ajeetesh Sandhu and others.

The tournament, in its sixth edition, will also feature former champions Udayan Mane and Honey Baisoya besides leading golfers from the Delhi-NCR region like Sachin Baisoya, Shamim Khan, Abhinav Lohan and Amardeep Malik, to name a few.

Prominent overseas names in the field include Sri Lankans N. Thangaraja and K. Prabagaran, Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain of Bangladesh, Andorra’s Kevin Esteve Rigaill as well as rookies including PGTI Q School winner Matias Dominguez of Chile, Nepal’s Subash Tamang, Italy’s Michele Ortolani and Czechia’s Stepan Danek.

The three amateurs in the field – Simarjeet Singh, Vinamra Anand and Raj Singh – are all from the Noida Golf Course.

Showcase

Said NGC secretary Dr. Steven Menezes ahead of the event, “We welcome the return of the Delhi-NCR Open, one of the most highly-anticipated events on the PGTI schedule, to the Noida Golf Course.

“The tournament provides a great opportunity for our members to witness high-quality play with some of the biggest names of Indian golf teeing it up this week.

“The event also provides an ideal platform to showcase the NGC to a wide audience across the country through the live telecast on the last two days. We wish the players all the best.”

Added Uttam Singh Mundy, PGTI chief executive, “The Delhi-NCR Open has over the years emerged as an important stop on the PGTI as the region is one of the major golfing centres in the country with a thriving golfing community.

“With a deep field and outstanding course conditions, we can expect a nail-biting finish like the last edition of the event which was decided in a playoff.”

The tournament was preceded by Tuesday’s well-contested Pro-Am.

The Delhi-NCR Open is the penultimate event in the pre-summer schedule of the Tata Steel PGTI and will be followed by the Haryana Open at the Classic GCC next week.
