Gandas sets out to defend Vooty Masters title from Wednesday

The Rs 1 crore Vooty Masters will be played at the Vooty Golf County in Vikarabad near Hyderabad from Wednesday with a full field in attendance.

Leading Indian professionals in the field include defending champion Manu Gandas, Aman Raj, Karan Pratap Singh, Rahil Gangjee, Udayan Mane, Sachin Baisoya and Khalin Joshi, and others, the PGTI said.

Gandas, who played the DP World Tour last year as 2022 Order of Merit champion, won the season-opener in Kolkata last week.

Prominent overseas entries include Sri Lankans N. Thangaraja and K. Prabagaran, Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain from Bangladesh, Andorra’s Kevin Esteve Rigaill and Nepal’s Sukra Bahadur Rai.

Also in the fray are rookies including PGTI Qualifying School winner Matias Dominguez of Chile, Nepal’s Subash Tamang, Italy’s Michele Ortolani, Czechia’s Stepan Danek, Dominic Piccirillo of the US and Germany’s Wenzel Krzenck.

Local flavour

The local players in the field are Mohd Azhar and Rahul Malik of the Vooty Golf County and amateurs Vilok Gadwal and Suraj Joshi from Hyderabad.

Vooty Golf County is an 18-hole championship golf course and residential development.
