Seventeen-year-old amateur Pritish Singh Karayat topped Pre-Qualifying II of the PGTI Qualifying School 2026 at Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad by a handsome margin.
On Wednesday, the Delhi Golf Club teenager returned a 3 under par 69 to finish on top at 10 under 134, six clear of the field the PGTI said.
Karayat (65-69) led the top 38 from a field of 135 into next week’s Final Stage, also to be played on the Kensville course, after the cut fell at 5 over 149.
The overnight leader by five shots, Karayat came up with four birdies and a bogey during his second round of 69 to stamp his authority over the field.
A member of the India team at the junior and amateur levels and a winner on the amateur circuit, Karayat made a number of 10- to 12-foot conversions on Wednesday.
“I hit good tee shots and made a lot of regulations once again today,” the 17-year-old said.
Close misses
“The only disappointment was missing out on a few conversions on the greens as I had five lip-outs.
“However, the good start in round one got me into a good rhythm and I was quite relaxed on the course today.
“Winning by a big margin gives me a lot of confidence going into the Final Stage.”
Amateur Mahir Rakha (73-67) finished second on 4 under 140 while seasoned professional Gurki Shergill (70-71) was a further shot behind in third place.
Nazir Ali of Kolkata, who missed the cut for the Final Stage, made a hole-in-one on 11 in his second round of 73.
On Tuesday itself, Karayat had established an imposing five-shot over the field with eight birdies and a bogey in his opening round.
Shergill, Divyansh Dubey and amateurs Ayaan Gupta and Arindam Sudan were all tied for second on 2 under 70.
