Amandeep Drall found form with a vengeance on day one of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour event at Golden Greens Golf Club near Gurgaon on Tuesday.
Not long ago a leading home finisher at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, Amandeep has been looking for a return to her best golf and on the day, fired two eagles and five birdies on her way to an 8 under par 64.
That gave her a six-shot cushion over the field and Gaurika Bishnoi was closest with a 70, and Astha Madan third with a 1 under 71 at the links style course, the WGAI said.
Amandeep’s 64 is a ladies’ course record and her best round of the season now into its fifth leg.
Hitaashee Bakshi and Khushi Khanijau carded level par 72s for tied fourth, while young amateur Lavanya Jadon shot a fine 73 to be sixth.
It was a welcome return to form for Amandeep, who lost her card on the Ladies European Tour but is determined to rediscover that ball-striking level and return to the international circuit.
Profitable run
She opened with a string of three pars before a birdie-eagle sequence on holes four and five, followed by a birdie on eight to turn in 3-under 33 as she also dropped a shot.
On the back nine, she added three more birdies before closing with her second eagle of the day.
Gaurika was one-over till the 15th with three birdies against four bogeys. She closed in style with three birdies in a row for a respectable to be second. Astha Madan had four birdies against three bogeys.
Experienced stars Ridhima Dilawari, Neha Tripathi and Seher Atwal were tied for seventh with Shagun Narain on 74s.
Order of Merit leader, Sneha Singh, shot a 3-over 75 to be tied for 11th with five others.
