Zara Anand produced the day’s best round to hold the lead after 36 holes in the Rs. 23 lakh 13th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the DLF Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.
The rising amateur, who will join an US university on a golf scholarship later this year, shot a 2 under par 70 to total level par 144 after an opening 74 on Tuesday.
On day two, Zara had had five birdies top her name against three bogeys, the WGAI said.
She was one shot ahead of overnight leader Lavanya Jadon (73-72), who had three birdies on her card two of them in the first three holes and three bogeys, all on the back nine.
Zara, seventh at the Queen Sirikit Cup in Japan earlier this year, led the amateur brigade with four of them inside the top 10.
Chasing pack
Former Hero Women’s Indian Open runner-up Amandeep Drall added a 73 to her first round 74 to be third at 3 over 147, while Astha Madan (75-74) was fourth.
Amandeep had two birdies, both on the front nine against three bogeys.
Astha opened with a birdie and a double bogey, and over the next 16 holes had two birdies and `14 pars.
Promising young amateur Ananyaa Sood (76-74) and Kriti Chowhan (76-74) were tied for fifth on 6 over 150.
Vani Kapoor, who has four wins this season, struggled on her home course with cards of 75 and 76 to share seventh place with Jahaanvie Walia (76-75).
Gaurika Bishnoi (77-75) was tied alongside amateurs Mannat Brar (76-76) and Lavanya Gupta (75-77) for tenth place.
The cut fell at 164 leaving 31 players to play the final round.
