Well-supported NGC Diwali Cup draws enthusiastic response 

Raj Singh was the overall gross winner at the Noida Golf Course Diwali Cup.

A truncated course was no bar to enthusiastic participation in the Noida Golf Course (NGC) Diwali Cup earlier this month with members turning out in good numbers over the four days of competition.

June Choudhari, Sujata Kadyan, Archit Goyal and Sanjeev Relia emerged winners in the ladies 0 to 18, ladies 19 to 30, men’s 0 to 10 and men’s 11 to 17 handicap categories.

The men’s 18 to 24 event was won by Roshan Baid while Mohd Ishrat Khan and Romeo James topped the super seniors and seniors events.

Other winners during the October 9 to 12 weekend included Arjun Choudhary (pro members), Ravinder (caddies), Raj Singh (overall, gross) and Rahul Rai Agarwal (overall nett). Kshetu Nohwar was second in the overall gross standings.

Lt Col K.M. Jha and Dr Sushil Dhama took second place in the super-senior and senior categories respectively while Ravi Sharma was runner-up in the professional members event.

In the dependant events, Kabir Goyal topped in the 11 to 12 years,  Dev Vir Singh (13 to 15) and Amaira Bajaj (16 to 18)

Both Goyal and Relia won their sections on count-back with Utpal Deka (0-10) and Vinay Bansal (11-17) finishing second at 18 points. Shalini Brar and Anoop Singh were runners-up in the ladies 0-18 and 19-30 competitions.

In all, 618 members entered for the four days of play including 110 seniors, while Nimbus, Oil India, Expo Inn, Radico Khaitan and Diageo were the event sponsors.
