The latest new event on the domestic professional golf calendar, the Rs 1 crore Vooty Masters, tees off in Hyderabad on Thursday.
The tournament has drawn a quality field including the top three in the PGTI Order of Merit, Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, Manu Gandas, and Ajeetesh Sandhu.
This is the first professional event supported by the Dream Valley Group and will be played at the Vooty Golf County course near Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Dream Valley Group chairman and MD Santhosh Reddy Kancharla, said, “It gives us immense pleasure to collaborate with the PGTI and we look forward to many more such tournaments.”
Added group chief executive Prithvi Reddy Kancharla, “This is going to be a spectacular war between the participants and the course.
“We have tied up with PGTI in the past and have always had a heart-warming association. We look forward to having many more like this.”
The launch press conference was attended by multiple winners this season, Sandhu and Manu Gandas, besides PGTI chief executive Uttam Singh Mundy.
Vooty Golf County is an 18-hole championship golf course that incorporates residential units and luxury resorts.
Inaugural event
While the group and the PGTI have previously collaborated on tournaments in the past, this is the first event at this venue, the PGTI said.
Speaking about the tournament, Mundy said, “We are delighted to collaborate with Dream Valley Group for the Vooty Masters and look forward to fruitful collaborations for many more events.”
Besides Servo Masters winner Sandhu and Gandas, the event has drawn the likes of Ajeetesh Sandhu, Varun Parikh, Om Prakash Chouhan, Shamim Khan and Kshitij Naveed Kaul, to name a few.
Overseas entrants include Sri Lankans Mithun Perera, N. Thangaraja, Anura Rohana and K. Prabagaran as well as Nepal’s Sukra Bahadur Rai.
The local challenge will be led by Hyderabad-based professionals Haider Hussain, Mohd Azhar and Hardik S. Chawda besides amateurs Sankeerth Nidadavolu and Sridhar Reddy A.
