Vani Kapoor and last week’s winner on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, Jasmine Shekar, have been drawn together for the first round of the tenth leg at Zion Hills Golf County near Bangalore.
Mysore’s Vidhatri Urs is the group’s third member as 37 players, including seven amateurs, tee off in the Kolar event that carries a Rs 16 lakh purse, the WGAI said.
Other leading professional players in the field include Ridhima Dilawari, Seher Atwal, Sneha Singh, Amandeep Drall and Neha Tripathi, who was runner-up to Jasmine in the last leg.
Last week was a rare occasion that saw Vani finish outside the top three. In eight starts, the DLF golfer has won four times, been runner-up twice and tied third on another occasion.
Seeking success
At Hosur, Vani tied for fifth place and will be looking to get back to her winning ways.
Other winners this year have been Sneha Singh (twice), while Rhea Purvi Saravanan, Amandeep Drall and Jasmine Shekar have won once each.
The seven amateurs include Saanvi Somu, who has been in contention on several occasions but has not been able to convert the opportunities into a win.
The other six are Keerthana Rajeev, Keya K. Badugu, Tanisha Prithvi, Dia Cris Kumar, Anvvi Dahhiya and Ceerat Kang, whose sister Heena is also in the field and will debut as a pro on her birthday.
Vani leads the Hero Order of Merit with Amandeep Drall, Sneha Singh and Jasmine Shekar behind her in that order.
