Vani back on track for a title hat-trick at DLF leg of Hero WPGT

Vani Kapoor stayed on course for a title hat-trick on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour with a second straight level par 72 and the lead at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon on Wednesday.

Winner of the fourth and fifth legs, Vani is now level par 144 for 36 holes, two shots clear of Sneha Singh (71-75), who closed with a double bogey on the Par-5 18^th for a card of 3 over 75, the WGAI said.

Tied with Sneha in second place is amateur Anvvi Dahhiya (71-75).

The current leader on the Hero Order of Merit, Sneha is also locked in a battle for top honours with DLF player Vani on two wins each in the five events held so far.

Vani started with a birdie on the first but dropped a double bogey on hole four and a further shot on six to fall to 2-over for the day.

She recovered well with four birdies on holes seven, 13, 15 and 17against two further bogeys on 10 and 14 in the remaining 11 holes.

When Sneha, playing in the lead group, reached the final hole she was level with Vani, who finished a group earlier.

Late blip

The Hyderabad player, who had four birdies against five bogeys, then stumbled with a double bogey to fall two shots behind Vani.

Anvvi had three birdies, all on the back nine besides four bogeys and a double for her 75.

First round leader Lavanya Jadon dropped from 70 in the first round to 77 in the second, undone by four bogeys between holes 13 and 16 and is now sole fourth.

Gaurika Bishnoi (74-76) and Amandeep Drall (74-76) shot 76s each and at 6 over 150, were tied for fifth.

Ridhima Dilawari (75) and Gauri Karhade (79) were seventh and eighth, and Anvitha Narender (78) and Jasmine Shekar (79) were tied for tenth.

The cut fell at 163 with 25 players making the grade.
