Fourth US Kids Golf title for Arshvant Srivastava

Arshvant Srivasatva from Noida iwon won the Boys 9 event for his fourth title of the tour.

Noida’s Arshvant Srivasatva continued his winning streak in the Boys 9 years category in the most recent round of the inaugural US Kids Golf India Tour held at the Chandigarh Golf Club.

Arshvant’s control on the greens fetched him as many as four birdies and he topped the group for the fourth time, while Ayan Dubey and Bhavesh Nirwan also from Noida were tied for second place. Ayan has participated in all the seven legs so far and his performance is getting better with each tournament, organisers noted.

The penultimate round of the US Kids Golf tour was held amidst much enthusiasm. Despite the prevailing cold wave conditions in the Chandigarh area, more than 60 young golfers between 7 and 15 years of age turned out there to underline their determination on the challenging course.

Valuable advice

Well-known professional golfer Ajeetesh Sandhu, who was present to encourage the children, lauded the effort to take golf to the grassroots.  In a question-answer session with the participating kids, he also talked about the importance of nutrition and exercise.

For the participants in each leg, the tournament carries ranking points and will enable qualifying junior golfers to participate in the US Kids World Championship, US Kids European Championship and US Kids Teen World Championship.

Chandigarh golfers Aryan Singh (boys 13-14), Jujjhar Singh (boys 12), and Aditya Sood (boys 15-18) won in their respective categories. The event witnessed participants not only from Chandigarh and Punjab but junior golfers from UP, Delhi and even Kolkata.

The top three places in the boys 10 years were taken by Anshul Mishra, Prashant Agarwal and Aditya Khaitan, all from Kolkata.

Girls on the move

While the boys from Kolkata who stole the show, it was the girls from Delhi and NCR who grabbed the top positions in Category 8-9, Ayesha Gupta, Parnika Sharma and Rhea Gupta taking the first three places.

Serena Khanna also from New Delhi won the girls 10-11 with a score of 81.

The inaugural tour ends on Thursday, January 31, with the last leg being played at the Classic Golf and Country Club near Gurgaon which will carry double points.

The top five finishers in each age group will receive priority status, granting them invitations to championship events. These events consist of state invitationals, regional championships, international championships and the World Championship, held each year in Pinehurst, USA.
