London: Tvesa Malik goes into the Aramco Series London looking to regain the form that established her on the Ladies European Tour last year.

In 2022, she has not been able to recapture that rhythm and is still looking for a first top-10 finish.

Tvesa is joined by Diksha Dagar who will be playing only her second event in Europe this year, after several appearances elsewhere.

Last year, Diksha was a member of the winning team though she is now in a different combination, alongside Ana Pelaez and Olivia Mehaffey.

Tvesa lines up alongside Sophie Witt and Elia Folch.

The $1 million event is a combined team and individual competition.

Diksha will look at happy memories from last year when she was in the winning team and T12 in the individuals.

Tvesa said, “I am not able to put a finger as to what is off this year.

“If something works one week, something else is out of sync. I have not been able to play consistently though the game seems in decent shape.

“Basically, I have not been able to put a solid week together like I did many times last year.”

Still looking for her first win on LET, Tvesa was second at the Gant Championship last year, her best on the LET.

In 2021 she had five top-10s and another five top-20 finishes.

Much to play for

“Hopefully, things will begin to fall in place soon. But there is still a lot of events left on the schedule.

“The addition of the ATS (Aramco Team Series) events mean a lot to play for us. A good couple of results is the need right now.

“I have been training with (coach) Jesse Grewal back home and last week Shubhankar (Sharma) who was there at the Scandinavian Mixed, also helped a little.

“Let’s see how it goes. The Centurion is a challenging course, but I have played here.”

On the team format, she said, “That’s a lot of fun. I enjoy it and picked Sophie Witt. We got Ella (Folch) as the random third member. One more amateur will be assigned to the team.

“We play the team event, but individually we need to focus on our game. If that works, all else will fall in place.”

Last week Diksha and Tvesa missed the cut at the Scandinavian Mixed.

Morale-booster

Winner of the South African Women’s Open in 2019, Diksha, had a great boost earlier this season winning gold at the Deaflympics in Brazil.

The 2021 Aramco champion team had Germans Olivia Cowan and Sarina Schmidt with Diksha as the random pick.

This year Cowan and Schmidt will have Emma Grechi who was assigned to the team as the random pick in defence of their title.

The ATS Series this year has a new format. The teams will compete over only 36 holes – on Thursday and Friday – with $500,000 prize money being split between the lowest scoring fourballs.

The event is the second of five $1 million Aramco Team Series tournaments on the LET calendar for 2022.

The final round will have only the lowest scoring 60 players and ties from the first two rounds.
