Tvesa Malik produced a storming finish at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open to emerge as the best of the six Indians who made the cut at Royal Beroun Golf Club.

Her bogey-free five 5 under par 67 gave Tvesa a share of 25th place, ahead of defending champion, Paris Olympics-bound Diksha Dagar who was tied for 43rd.

At the top, Spain’s Marta Martin shot a 9 under 63 to win by four strokes after earlier cards of 69 and 67 that had her in shared second place going into the final round.

It was the 27-year-old’s maiden LET title and added to her Access Series win also achieved in the same country last year, the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge.

“I’m very, very happy! Czech has a special thing for me,” the winner said on the LET website. “It was a phenomenal round out there with many birdies and I really enjoyed it.

“The crowd were wonderful people and I’m really happy and thankful for everybody that came out. Of course, I am always happy to come to Czechia.”

In a good week for the Indian contingent with all six in the field – five professionals and one amateur – making the cut.

Behind Tvesa, amateur Avani Prashanth (69-70-72) and Vani Kapoor (68-70-73) were in a share of 33rd place, LET rookie Pranavi Urs (71-69-73) tied for 43rd with Diksha, and Ridhima Dilawari (70-72-72) was T54.

Switzerland up next

Next week the LET travels to Golfpark Holzhäusern for the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open from June 28 to 30.

England’s Rosie Davies finished in second place – her best ever result on the LET – after also firing a 63 on the final day.

Finland’s Ursula Wikstrom, Wales’s Chloe Williams and Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall were tied for third on 12-under-par.

Added Martin after her win, “I was pretty consistent this week, I didn’t really miss many shots and my misses were playable and of course, today everything just rolled out. I left the ball very close and rolled in a lot of putts.

“I did a lot of putting preparation, I was struggling in the past couple of events to make birdies. In the last tournaments, I just had one or two birdies per round so making 10 birdies today and many in the last few days is always rewarding,”

The result took the Spaniard to seventh place on the Order of Merit while Diksha is now 13th and Pranavi one rung behind her.
