Actor, musician and avid golfer Justin Timberlake, will play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship for the first time, alongside world no. 4 Justin Rose. The event is scheduled to be played between September 26 and 29.

The championship is played over three of the world’s best known courses – the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and the highly regarded Kingsbarns Golf Links, a statement from the organisers has said.

Others who have confirmed for the prestigious Pro-Am event are Open champion Shane Lowry, world no, 6 Jon Rahm, US Ryder Cup star Tony Finau, former Masters champion Danny Willett and two-time Major champion Martin Kaymer.

Class field

They join a field that includes world no. 2 Rory McIlroy and Major winners Padraig Harrington, the current European Ryder Cup captain, Ernie Els, Graeme McDowell, Trevor Immelman and Michael Campbell.

Timberlake and Rose have paired before in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Former world no 1 Rose has fond memories at the Alfred Dunhill Links, having finished runner-up in 2007.

The 2013 US Open champion and 2016 Olympic gold medallist will look to continue a solid 2019, following a win at the Farmers Insurance Open and a third place finish at the US Open at Pebble Beach.

Popular figure

Timberlake, a 10-time Grammy award-winning musician and four-time Emmy award-winning actor, has sold more than 32 million albums and 56 million singles, making him one of the most popular artists on the planet.

He has been named twice by Time magazine as one the 100 most influential people in the world.

With a prize fund of $5 million, the Dunhill event incorporates two separate competitions – an individual professional tournament for the world’s leading golfers and a team event in which the professionals are paired with some of the most celebrated amateur golfers.

This is the 35th year that Alfred Dunhill has supported golf at St Andrews, through the links championship and previously the Alfred Dunhill Cup. With the addition of the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation in 2011, millions have been raised for charity.
