Greetings from Rahul Banerji.
After 35 years as a sports writer confined to the columns of a newspaper, this blog/website was a breakout for me.
Also a return in some ways to the vast world of the internet after a brief stint away from print. Social media had not yet been invented back then.
And as I stood then at the confluence of golf and the internet, two vast oceans, the vista was an intimidating, yet exciting one.
Dabbling ones toes with cricketnext.com and espnstar.com along with Raj (Rajaraman G., Dadi among so many other handles) was one thing back in 1999.
And for those early learnings, so many to thank. Hugh Moss, the visionary, Raj, Naveen Aranha of Sports Interactive, David Simonsen, Queen Latha, Aditya, Manu Sawhney (nevertheless) and a hundred others.
In the words of the one and only Bob Marley, “Good friends we have had, good friends we’ve lost
Along the way
In this bright future you can’t forget your past.”
This was and has been a different challenge. And one that continues to tax and tease one’s learning abilities. Thanks to the teachers of past and present.
It was great to have you at the start of the journey. More as we go along, as I had written then.
It has already been two years, and that’s a little hard to believe. A journey that has taken this blog not just down different paths in Indian golf, but also to trails in other parts.
As as teetimetales.com takes a fresh step forward, it is also time to look at other horizons, with social media expanding almost by the hour.
Interactivity, v-logs, video/audio clips and narratives have been on the board for a while now.’
It is time to step up.Â
