Seher Atwal made a quick start in the 14th leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at Delhi Golf Club to finish the day on a healthy 4-under 68 and a three-shot lead.
Another player starting well was Sneha Singh on 1 under 71 despite a mid-round slip. She, like Seher, has been underperforming over the last few weeks, the WGAI said.
A two-time winner this season who still leads the Hero Order of Merit, former national champion Sneha bogeyed hole 10Â and double-bogeyed 11.
Neha Tripathi, Agrima Manral and Asmitha Sathish carded 1-over 73s each while Kriti Chowhan (74) was sole fifth.
Tvesa Malik, winner of two of her last three events, was tied seventh alongside Khushi Khanijau and Ravjot K. Dosanjh on 3-over 75, while Jasmine Shekar rounded off the top 10 with a 76.
Finding form
Seher, who won the season-opener at Pune in January, has largely been off the boil since then but began on Wednesday at the DGC with three birdies in her first four holes.
A dropped shot on seven was her sole blemish of the day and she quickly made up with a birdie on eight. Over the final 10 holes, she had one birdie and no bogeys for a solid 68.
Sneha had three birdies against just one bogey on the front nine but a bogey and a double at the start of the back nine blotted her card.
The Hyderabad player recovered with back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15 and closed with three pars.
Neha, also a two-time winner in recent weeks, had three birdies against two bogeys and a double bogey on the par-4 16th hole.
This is the last event before the Hero Women’s Indian Open next month at the DLF Golf and Country Club.
