Seher Atwal, out to end a run of second places, edged past overnight co-leader Neha Tripathi in the 10th leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour on Thursday.

Seher played a fine back nine at the Prestige Golfshire course near Bangalore for a 2-under par 70, a shot ahead of Neha (71).

In only her second professional appearance, Sneha Singh shot a second straight 71 and was placed third on 2-under 142.

Nayanika Sanga also shot a 71 to be fourth on 1-under 143 for the opening two rounds.

Pranavi Urs made some amends for a first round 76 with a 3-under 69 that saw her rise to fifth place at 1-over 145, but she still was five shots behind the leader.

Seher, runner-up in the eighth and ninth legs of the tour, had a slow start with one birdie against two bogeys for 1-over on the front nine, while Neha had one birdie and one bogey to take the sole lead.

Making ground

On the back nine, Seher sank three birdies against no bogeys while Neha also had no bogeys but only one birdie, on 18.

That run has handed Seher a morale boosting one-shot lead going into the final round.

Sneha had back-to-back birdies and then back-to-back bogeys to turn in level par. On the back nine she birdied once and then had eight straight pars to finish on 71.

Nayanika had three birdies on the front nine and one double bogey on her way back.

Pranavi birdied the first, seventh, 16th and 18th holes and dropped just one shot as she played steady through the day.

After a first round 73, Gaurika Bishnoi was sixth was another such score.

Hitaashee Bakshi (76-71), Jyotsana Singh (76-71), Gauri Karhade (73-74) and amateur Vidhatri Urs (71-76) were all tied for seventh.
