The SECL Chhattisgarh Open will open the 2026 DP World Professional Golf Tour of India season at the Fairway Golf & Lake Resort in New Raipur from Tuesday.

The event purse was Rs 1 crore in the inaugural edition won by Shaurya Bhattacharya last year, and has been raised to Rs 1.5, the DP World PGTI said.

A field of 126 professionals including 47 who earned their playing rights at the Qualifying School in Ahmedabad last week will be seen in action. The top 50 and ties will make the cut.

Top Indian professionals in the fray include Veer Ahlawat, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, Angad Cheema and Arjun Prasad, to name a few.

There are 16 overseas professionals in the field from nine different countries.

Last week, the PGTI announced a landmark multi-year partnership with DP World, under which the global logistics leader became its title and official umbrella partner.

Grand success

Ahead of the event, Chhattisgarh deputy chief minister and sports minister, Arjun Sao, said, “After the grand success of the inaugural edition of the Chhattisgarh Open, this demonstrates our commitment to promoting golf and positioning Chhattisgarh as a hub for national sporting events.

“Hosting such events showcases Chhattisgarh’s facilities, organisational capability, and growing sports culture.”

Added PGTI president Kapil Dev, “We are delighted to return for the second edition thanks to the continued support of the deputy CM, the state government and local stakeholders.

“Such tournaments play a vital role in providing competitive opportunities for our professionals while also contributing to the growth of the sport in emerging golfing destinations like Chhattisgarh.”

The Fairway Golf & Lake Resort is located in Nava Raipur, which was planned as an integrated community with leisure and recreation.

The 6,000-yard Par-69 course is located on the banks of the 450-acre Jhanjh Lake and surrounded by a 500-acre forest. It is the first 18-hole course to be developed in central India.
