Anvitha Narender shot the best round of her budding professional career to hold a two-shot lead after day 2 of the eighth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour in Bangalore on Wednesday.

The New Jersey-born Anvitha returned a 5-under 65 on the day to move two strokes clear of Gurgaon-based amateur Lavanya Jadon (69-67) at the Bangalore Golf Club.

The Bangalore-based rookie (69-65) was 6 under par 134 and Lavanya 4 under 136, the only two in the field with two sub-par rounds, the WGAI said.

Anvitha, who was tied for eighth on her pro debut last week, started well with three early birdies byut also dropped two shots to turn in 1-under.

On the back nine, she picked up four shots without further damage to her card for a fine round of 65.

Lavanya, who has represented India as an amateur, opened with a birdie but she gave it back on the eighth hole.

Another birdie on hole nine meant she turned in 1 under par and picked up two more strokes on the way back to the clubhouse.

Steady run

Seher Atwal carded a steady 69 with three birdies and two bogeys to be sole third at 1 under 139, while amateur Saanvi Somu had a level par 70 to be fourth on 1 over 141.
