Pranavi Urs shared the lead after two rounds of the Dormy Open on Saturday even as Diksha Dagar and Tvesa Malik were tied for 19th place in the weather-delayed event,

Pranavi had to complete her first round along with Tvesa after bad weather forced an early end to play on Friday with both finishing the opening 18 holes on 2 under par 70s to join morning starter Diksha.

Playing the event for the first time, Pranavi then turned on the heat with a bogey-free 6 under 66 for a share of the lead alongside Cara Gainer of England on 8 under 136.

The 21-year-old from Mysore, who has two top-10 finishes in her rookie Ladies European Tour season so far, is playing the Helsingborg event for the first time.

On Saturday she had four birdies on the front nine and picked up a further two strokes on the way back to the clubhouse.

“I think everything went well,” said Pranavi on the LET website. “My tee shots were pretty good, and my approaches were good as well. Putting was good, so I think it was easier to get those five six-footers in. Overall, a good day.

“I’m just trying to get comfortable here and as the week goes, take one day at a time, so that’s good for me. I’m not thinking too far ahead or what’s happened on the previous hole if it was bad. I’m taking one shot at a time as well which has been pretty good.

“This week has been pretty bad because of my back, I had to withdraw last week. That’s taken a little toll on my back but hopefully, the physio can do some magic and I can play tomorrow.

“I just want to hit as many fairways and greens as possible, give myself opportunities. If I don’t convert them, at least I’m giving myself opportunities and stress-free pars. That’s the plan.”

Urs has her boyfriend Karandeep Kochhar, who is a professional golfer, caddying for her this week and is enjoying having him alongside her.

She added: “He knows my game pretty well and back home when we play together it’s pretty competitive. It’s nice to ease things off between us on the golf course. I’m excited that he’s here and that we could get a good round today.”

Diksha and Tvesa brought in matching 1 under 71s at the Allerum Golf Club and were in shared 19th place on 3 under 141s.

Moving up

Tvesa’s 71 included three birdies against two dropped shots to her opening 70 while Paris Olympics-bound Diksha had a roller-coaster ride that mixed five birdies with four bogeys.

On Friday, Tvesa and Pranavi carded three birdies each in the first seven holes of play possible before storms forced the suspension of play.

By then Diksha had completed her first round with a birdie-birdie finish for a 2-under 70.

Diksha, starting from the tenth hole had five birdies against three dropped shots to open her campaign.

England’s Annabell Fuller and Switzerland’s Kim Metraux shot 67s each to share the first-round lead. Annabell was bogey free, but Kim dropped one shot against six birdies.

Play was suspended at 14.49 local time over the threat of lightning with all afternoon groups having started their rounds.

At last week’s Jabra Ladies Open in France, Metraux’s young sister Morgane clinched her second LET title,

Vani Kapoor looked set to miss the cut at Helsingborg after a disappointing second round to go with her opening 1 under
