Pranavi climbs into three-way lead with Tvesa, Ananya at BPGC

Having narrowly missed out last week, Pranavi Urs forced herself into contention on day two of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour second leg at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club on Thursday.

Shrugging off her first day’s 5-over par 75 and some early setbacks on Thursday, the Mysore-based amateur shot a 1-under 69 to climb from tied seventh into a share of the lead alongside Tvesa Malik and Ananya Datar.

Both overnight leaders returned 3-over 73s on the Par-70 BPGC layout making for a three-way tie at 4-over 144.

Early setbacks

Pranavi had an early double bogey and bogey over the first five holes to go eight-over for the tournament at that stage.

Four birdies after making the turn brought her back into the fight for the title, as Tvesa and Ananya dropped shots to bring the amateur into contention.

Tvesa opened with a bogey but recovered immediately with a birdie. There were to be no further birdies and she went on to three shots for a 73.

Ananya had three bogeys against no birdies in her card of 73.

Afshan Fatima opened and finished with a birdie and in between bogeyed once to record a 69, only the second under-par round so far this week for fourth place while Oviya Reddi (76-72) with two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey was fifth at 8-over 148.

Trimann Saluja (74-75) and Neha Tripathi (72-77) were tied sixth while Gaurika Bishnoi (78-72), despite three birdies, was eighth at 150. 

Amateur Ivana Shah (77-74), Khushi Khanijau (79-72) and Siddhi Kapoor (74-77) were tied-ninth on 151s.

On the final day, Tvesa Malik, Ananya Datar and Pranavi Urs will be together in the leader group, setting the stage for what could be an exciting finish.
