Pranavi finishes T7 at La Sella Open with her best LET round

Playing her first season on the Ladies European Tour, Pranavi Urs shot a 6 under par 66 to finish tied for seventh place at the La Sella Open last week.

Pranavi carded rounds of 72, 71, 71 and 66 for an 8 under par total to climb into the top 10 from tied 26th after the third round, the WGAI said.

It was her fourth top-10 finish from 14 starts in her rookie LET season.

Ridhima Dilawari (70-71-74-76), who had started well and was T15 at the halfway mark slipped to T51 with a 3 over total, while Tvesa Malik (70-74-76-73) was T57 at 5 over for the week.

Germany’s Helen Briem, who has won four LET Access events this season, landed her maiden LET win at the La Sella Resort with a closing 66 and an 18 under total.

The German teenager began the day as the 54-hole leader and got off to a good start with an opening birdie.

Briem continued to impress on a flawless final day with birdies on holes seven and nine and 12 and 15.

With France’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard only one shot behind the 19-year-old coming down the last, the German star rolled in her sixth birdie of the day on 18 to secure a two-shot victory. 

Roussin-Bouchard had rounds of 71-71-65-65 for a 16-under total.

Good record

Pranavi, a multiple winner on her domestic Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour and playing in her first season on the LET has had three previous Top-10 finishes.

She was fifth at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco, seventh at the Aramco Team Series in Korea and tied third at the Dormy Open in Helsingborg,

Starting the final round way down the leaderboard, Pranavi picked up three strokes on the front nine with gains on the fourth, fifth and ninth holes.

On the back nine, the Mysore golfer birdied holes 10, 14, and 16 for her 66, her best round on the Ladies European Tour.

Sara Kouskova of the Czech Republic was third with a closing 67 and 13 under, while Spain’s Ana Pelaez (69) was fourth on 11 under. Sofie Bringer of Sweden shot a 67 for fifth place on 10 under par.
