Pranavi Urs brought in a career-best tied third-place finish at the Dormy Open Helsingborg Ladies European Tour event in Sweden on Sunday.

Making in a good day for the Indian group in Helsingborg, Tvesa Malik was tied for 10th place and Paris Olympics-bound Diksha Dagar was a creditable T13 on a day Perrine Delacour of France won her maiden LET title in a playoff with German amateur Helen Briem.

Pranavi was one shot short of the title play-off despite a late double bogey to finish with a 2 under par 70 and a three-day 10 under 206 (70-66-70) total.

The 21-year-old bounced back after the double bogey on hole 16 with a birdie-birdie finish and the best result so far in her rookie year on the LET.

Behind Pranavi, Tvesa, who won her first international win in South Africa earlier this year, shot 68 in the final round to go with 70 and 71 previously for a good top-10 performance.

Diksha had a closing 69 after 70 and 71 on the first two days and the result kept her in ninth place on the LET’s Order of Merit where Pranavi is now up to 11th place, one ahead of event winner Delacour.

Steady improvement

The Mysore golfer was within touching distance of joining Aditi Ashok (five) and Diksha (two) as the only Indians to have won on the LET and improved on her previous best of fifth in the Lalla Meryem Cup and seventh at the Aramco tournament in Korea.

Delacour birdied the first play-off hole to seal her maiden tour title from Briem had earlier set the bar at 11 under 205 with a stunning final round of 8 under par 64 with nine birdies and a bogey in the final 14 holes.

The 30-year-old Delacour, who has twice won on the Symmetra Tour in the US, started the final round in sixth place, had an eagle on the front nine, but picked up pace on the back nine, birdieing the last two holes to join Briem.

Pranavi led the field on 10-under at one stage. She had a clean card till she dropped the double on 16 to tie with Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup (68), who birdied four times in the last seven holes.
