Neha Tripathi, Seher Atwal share lead after Golfshire opener

Neha Tripathi and Seher Atwal shared the lead at the Golfshire course in the 10th leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour near Bangalore on Wednesday.

Winless since the first leg of the 2019 season, Neha who was in Europe recently playing selected events returned a 2-under 70 on the day alongside Seher, one shot ahead of the pack.

Amateur Vidhatri Urs, rookie pro Sneha Singh and Ishvari Prasanna had 71s each, while Nayanika Sanga and Shweta Mansingh returned even par 72s to be tied sixth, the WGAI said.

Gaurika Bishnoi, who had an early triple bogey and Ananya Datar were in a share of eighth place on 73 while Saaniya Sharma and Gauri Karhade shot 74s to be tied for 10th.

Mixed bag

Neha, making off-and-on appearances on the Ladies European Tour, had five birdies against three dropped shots on the day.

Seher, who won last year in Pune and second in her last two starts, overcame a double bogey, her only blemish on the day, on her way to the shared lead.

She had hit four birdies before the double bogey saw her drop back to 2-under.

Pre-event favourite and a four-time winner this season, Pranavi Urs, had a rough day with three double bogeys and a bogey against three birdies in a card of 4-over 76 that had her a T13.

Pranavi has, however, bounced back from adversity in the past and will still be one to watch out for over the last two days.
