Resident ace Simarjeet Singh walked away with top honours in the overall gross category of the NGC President’s Cup that teed off in March and was completed in late October owing to the Covid-enforced break.
Simarjeet emerged winner with a 2-under par card of 70, nine shots better than runner-up Prashant Bharadwaj. Ashok Kumar was the overall nett winner with 46 points.
V.N.. Garg with 25 points topped the super-seniors (75 years and above) event ahead of Brigadier I.S. Mann (24).
The seniors event for golfers between 65 and 74 years was won by B.S. Saini on 42 points, just ahead of the long-hitting Commodore Ranvir Singh (42), one of my original golf gurus.
Priti Agrawal took the ladies event honours with 44 points ahead of Dimple Singh Kochhar on 37 points.
The closest competition came in the 0-9 handicap section with both Captain Rahul Rai and Major S.S. Sharma finishing on 37 points before the former was adjudged winner.
Another tight contest was in the professional members’ class with Ankit and Lakshya Nagar finishing level with cards of 2-over 74 and Ankit being declared champion.
The Noida Golf Course President’s Cup was supported by ATS.
