West Palm Beach, Florida: Cleeks GChave acquired next-gen Danish star Frederik Kjettrup, the LIV Golf League team announced recently.
The Dane will join an already-impressive roster led by Captain and two-time major champion Martin Kaymer, two-time senior major champion Richard Bland and 2023 DP World Tour Player of the Year, Adrian Meronk.
He replaced Finland’s Kalle Samooja in the Cleeks lineup after the Finn topped the 2023 qualifying tournament to earn his way into the top tier.
Kjettrup, a decorated amateur and standout collegiate player, turned pro in 2024 following an eighth-place finish in the PGA Tour University rankings, earning him a conditional exemption to the Korn Ferry Tour and full exemption to PGA Tour Americas.
In just eight events played, Kjettrup managed to capture three titles, at the Beachlands Victoria Open, ATB Classic, and CRMC Championship.
“Frederik is one of the brightest young talents in the game,” said Kaymer.
Impressive record
“His impressive track record and fearless approach make him a perfect fit for our team. I’m looking forward to seeing him thrive within the competitive atmosphere of LIV Golf.”
Collegiately, the Dane played all four years for Florida State University , where he became just the fourth three-time All-American in program history. The Seminole finished his career second all-time at FSU in career scoring average (71.29).
As a three-time individual tournament champion, Kjettrup owns the most rounds at 64 or lower (four) in program history, and was a co-medallist at the 2024 ACC Championships.
As an amateur, Kjettrup notched multiple prestigious wins including the Titleist & Footjoy West Coast Masters (2017), Valderrama Open, German Junior Golf Tour U18 Championship (2018), Danish National Match Play Championship (2019, 2021), and the Watersound Invitational (2023).
“Frederik embodies everything our team stands for: talent, sportsmanship, and the drive to redefine the future of golf,” said Cleeks GC general manager, Jonas Martensson.
“We are proud to welcome him to the team and are confident he will make an immediate impact both on and off the course.”
As last year’s LIV Golf Houston team championship, Cleeks GC will aim to build on their momentum heading into the 2025 season which will tee off at Riyadh from February 6 to 8, 2025.

Meanwhile, Iron Heads GC finalised their 2025 lineup, adding 22-year-old Yubin Jang, the no. 1 golfer from the Korean Tour to play alongside skipper Kevin Na, Danny Lee and budding talent Jinchiro Kozuma.
Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent failed to make the grade for the Iron Heads on the season-long standings and was relegated out of the LIV Golf ranks.
Jang had a dominant 2024, finishing as the KPGA money leader and Genesis points champion in addition to finishing first in top ten finishes.
The young gun is a three-time Korean Tour winner, and represented his country at the 2023 Asian Games, capturing the gold medal.
“As a promising young talent from Korea, I’ve been following his career for years and have had my eye on him to join the team,” said Na. “The Iron Heads needed young talent like his to push our veterans, and I’m confident he has what it takes to become a world-class golfer.
“Yubin’s presence shows young Korean golfers a clear path to competing globally against the best, and with an event in Korea this year, his addition is a major boost for our team. It’s an incredibly exciting time for Korean golf.”
Iron Heads scripted one of the most memorable chapters in the short history of LIV Golf when, against all odds, they finished tied for second at the team championship in Dallas.
Fired by Lee and Kozuma, the unlikely finalists proved to be giant killers, taking down two seeded favourites in Smash GC in the quarter-finals) and defending champions Crushers GC in the semi-finals. (courtesy livgolf.com)
