Late blip costs Amandeep, Khushi leads Tolly Hero WPGT leg

Khushi Khanijau birdied her final hole to lead the third leg of the Hero WPGT at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Playing in the first group along with Riya Yadav, Khushi had three birdies on the day but also dropped two shots for a round of 69, the only sub-par card of the day, the WGAI said.

Amandeep Drall was 4-under with two holes left when she had a disastrous triple bogey on the par-4 17^th hole and added a bogey on 18 to fall to level par 70 and sole second place.

Runner-up at the last two events, Hitaashee Bakshi, was tied for third at 1-over 71 along with Seher Atwal, Jasmine Shekhar and Gauri Karhade.

Rocky finish

Amateur Anaahat Bindra (73), who was also under par after 15 holes finished bogey-bogey-double bogey for a 73 and seventh place.

Karishma Govind and Ananya Garg shot 74s while Jyotsana Singh, Ananya Datar and Ridhima Dilawari were tied for 10^th place on 75.

While Khushi has won once previously on the Hero WPG Tour at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Amandeep is trying to work her way back into form before she gets to the international tours.

Hitaashee had a birdie start but bogeyed the next three holes before recovering with two birdies against one dropped shot in the remaining 14 holes.

Seher Atwal made a smart recovery after being 4-over through 12 holes. She birdied three times to get to 1-over 71.

Order of Merit leader Sneha Singh had an off day and was well down the order with a 78.
