Eight top-10 finishers that included one title-winner was the haul of a 30-strong Indian contingent at the three-day U.S. Kids Golf European Championship that concluded in Scotland on Thursday.
As briefly reported, Chaitanya Pandey (30, 36, 36) was the best of the group with a two-shot triumph over South Africa’s Lee Foxcrost (33, 34, 37) in the boys 7 years and under event at the Longniddry Golf Course early on in the day.
Chaitanya’s day one 6-under round held him in good stead over the second and third days.
Competition in this group was probably the closest with the top six all bringing in under-par cards. The second Indian in the fray, Mumbai’s Priaan Kantawala (35, 36, 38) was seventh overall with a 1-over par total of 109.
Missing out
Lavanya Gupta, who was tied for the girls 11 years event lead after two days eventually finished third on level par 216 (69, 73, 74) as she was unable to consolidate on her first day’s 3-under card.
The UK’s Roisin Scanlon and Isabella Downey of the US had 2-under totals of 214 with the former declared winner.
Asara Sawhney (37, 39, 41) took a share of third place in the girls 9 years and in the 13-14 years event, Nishna Patel of Mumbai, Delhi’s Ragini Navet and Natasha Jaichandra of Bangalore were fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.

In the boys 13 years, Gurgaon’s Jai Bahal (75, 74, 72) finished eighth with a 221 aggregate, five over par.
In the 9 years event, Arshvant Srivastava of Noida was tied 16th and Jeev Milkha Singh’s son Harjai tied 30th, and Noida-based Melbourne golfer Arav ‘Arrow’ Shah 10th in the boys 11 years with a 10-over 226 aggregate.
