Hitaashee Bakshi led the field by one shot after the opening round of the second leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club on Tuesday.

The Gurgaon golfer, who has not won since the 2022 season when she picked up three titles, had five birdies against two bogeys, one on each side of the par-70 course, the WGAI said.

Trailing Hitaashee were Amandeep Drall, Sneha Singh and Ridhima Dilawari all on 2-under 68, while the day’s other sub par score came from amateur Vidhatri Urs (69).

Hitaashee, third on the Hero Order of Merit in 2022, played only nine events in 2023 when she also had an injury.

She now looks to be finding form again and was tied for second last week with Sneha when amateur Nishna Patel won the title in Pune.

Quick rebound

Hitaashee bogeyed the third hole but got the shot back immediately and had back-to-back birdies on holes six and seven which she repeated on 14 and 15 with one bogey in between on 11.

Hyderabad’s Sneha Singh had three birdies against one bogey, as did Amandeep. Both Sneha and Amandeep dropped shots on the par-4 ninth hole.

Ridhima Dilawari returned bogey-free, with one birdie on either side of the course.

Disha Kavery (70) was sole sixth, while Neha Tripathi, Khushi Khanijau and Taniya Balasuriya, were tied for seventh on 1-over 71.

Rhea Jha and amateur Mannat Brar were T10 with cards of 2-over 72 each.

The experienced Vani Kapoor made a rough start with a 6-over 76, as did Seher Atwal for tied 21st place.

Last week’s opening leg winner in Pune, amateur Nishna Patel had a disappointing round of 7-over 77.
