Heena Kang is sole leader at Golfshire Hero WPGT event

Heena Kang dropped a crucial double bogey at the end of her round but still managed to keep the lead in the 11^th Leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at Prestige Golfshire on Thursday.

Heena shot a second straight level par 72 and was one shot clear of Jasmine Shekar (75-70), the WGAI said.

Amateur Lavanya Gupta added a 72 to her opening 74 for third place, while Agrima Manral (78-70), Ananya Datar (75-73) and amateur Mannat Brar (72-76) were 4 over 148.

Heena, who shared the first round lead with Mannat, birdied the third hole but gave up the gain on the Par-4 seventh to turn in even par. 

Back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12 took her to 2-under, followed by bogey-birdie on 15 and 16 to stay at 2-under. A closing double set her back to par, but sstill in the lead.

Day’s best

Jasmine had four birdies against two bogeys to shoot the day’s equal best of 2-under 70.

There were two other cards of 70 from Agrima Manral and Ridhima Dilawari, who improved by 12 strokes from an 82 in the first round.

Day one co-leader Mannat returned a 76 with two birdies and six bogeys and dropped to a tie for fourth place.

The presence of three amateurs in the top seven underlines a crop of strong upcoming stars, as yet another, Riya Jadon (74-75), was sole seventh on 149.

Neha Tripathi (78-72), Astha Madan (76-74), Durga Nittur (76-74) and Ananya Garg (76-74) were tied for eighth on 6 over 150.
