Haryana Open tees off on Thursday at Panchkula Golf Club

Jairaj Singh Sandhu returns to defend his Haryana Open title at the Panchkula Golf Club which tees off on Thursday, October 17.

The Tata Steel Professional Golf Tour of India, the sanctioning body for men’s domestic professional golf will stage the Rs 1 crore event in the closing leg of its 2024 season with a field of 123 professionals and three amateurs.

The field at the sixth edition of the Haryana Open features ranking leader Veer Ahlawat, Vizag Open winner Angad Cheema, Rahil Gangjee, Shaurya Binu, Aman Raj, and Udayan Mane, to name a few, the PGTI said.

Besides Chandigarh’s Cheema and Jairaj Sandhu, others from the Tricity are Akshay Sharma, Harendra Gupta, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Amrit Lal, Rajiv Kumar Jatiwal, Ranjit Singh, Amritinder Singh, Aadil Bedi and Ravi Kumar.

Prominent overseas names in the field include Sri Lankans N. Thangaraja and K. Prabagaran, Czech Republic’s Stepan Danek, Jamal Hossain, Badal Hossain, and Md Akbar Hossain of Bangladesh.

Andorra’s Kevin Esteve Rigaill, Nepal’s Subash Tamang, Canada’s Sukhraj Singh Gill and Dominic Piccirillo of the US are some of the others.

The three amateurs, Arjunveer Shishir, Jujhar Singh and Manyaveer Bhadoo, are all from the Panchkula Golf Club.

“We’re now in the business end of the season and therefore look forward to a keenly-contested affair at the Haryana Open as the TATA Steel PGTI Ranking race hots up.”

Added Col A.S. Dhillon of the host venue, “We at the Panchkula Golf Club are proud to host the country’s leading professionals at a PGTI event for the seventh year in succession and the Haryana Open for the second year in a row.

“We are confident that our efforts to provide the best playing conditions will make it a memorable experience for the professionals at the PGC this week.”

The Panchkula Golf Club course has been designed to challenge both the top pros and the weekend golfer.

The course, spread over approximately 135 acres, is situated on the banks of the Ghaggar River. It spans 7,179 yards and is a par-72 track.
