The Golf Industry Association Summit 2022 concluded at the Qutab Golf Course on Friday with a number of brain-storming sessions and industry-specific presentations.
The event rounded off with an awards ceremony recognising excellence in different aspects of golf course management, eco-sustainability, presentations, and a gala dinner.
Speaking at the closing, GIA patron Brandon Desouza pointed out that not only had a good number of golf clubs attended the summit, but the more technical aspects of the industry had been represented as well.
“One big takeaway was that we saw machines, irrigation systems, turf care, fertilisers and chemicals, golf carts, and water purification solutions presented both from global companies distributing in India.
“Even better, there is now a “Made in India” option available through a simple GIA window.
Overall, I have to say we are glad to have initiated this summit after the forced sabbatical of the pandemic,” he added.
Earlier Karma Lakelands’ Ashwini Khurana spoke at length about how the property had systematically taken steps towards eco-sustainability through a combination of natural development and strict implementation of policies.
“I want my grandchildren to grow up in a healthy atmosphere and environment and am happy to say that not just our staff but visitors have all brought into the idea. Water use, land use, and a no-littering policy have all played a vital role at Karma Lakelands.”
Representatives from the Delhi Development Authority, East Point Golf Couse in Visakhapatnam, and the R&A all made engaging points during the course of the day.
