Leading smart logistics provider DP World will expand its global Clubhouse initiative to India by providing purpose-built facilities to youth around the world.
At a launch attended by Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood on the sidelines of the $4 million DP World India Championship, the company said it was the second such initiative following the inaugural in Cape Town earlier this year.
Leveraging DP World’s capabilities, each Clubhouse is built using repurposed shipping containers and tailored to the needs of the local community.
It provides golf equipment, sheltered training areas, and a safe space for young talent to develop both their sporting and life skills as put on show at the Delhi Golf Club.
The Clubhouses remain as permanent facilities with the academies as long-term resources to ensure continued access to world-class training and mentorship opportunities, the company said.
As an extension of DP World’s association with the DPWIC, a Clubhouse was provided to the Gurgaon-based Zen Golf Range and Academy.
Zen Golf is a community driven organisation committed to making golf more inclusive and accessible to local youth.
Intrinsic strength
Said group chief communications officer Daniel van Otterdijk, “We’re proud to partner with Zen Golf to bring the DP World Clubhouse initiative to India.
“At DP World, we’re using the power of logistics to create opportunities – giving new life to our containers and opening new doors for communities to connect with golf.”
Added Zen Golf managing director Shyam Grover, “We’re proud to be chosen as DP World’s partner in this initiative.
“This new space will make a real difference to our academy – giving our students access to better facilities, new technology, and a place they can feel inspired to grow.
“Our students are thrilled about this news, and we can’t wait to integrate it into our junior coaching sessions”.
