Upgame, an India-based data intelligence and practice tracking platform will partner the PGA EuroPro Tour in providing data and statistics to its members
The Delhi-based company has been in the business of supporting coaches and individual players on platforms like the European and PGA Tours and this step will be a first for the start-up as well.
The partnership will see Upgame deliver in-depth statistics to the UK-based men’s developmental tour’s players using its app.
It will also supply key information on player and course averages for TV broadcasts sent to over 500 million homes worldwide.
The data insights with Upgame’s metrics will allow players to analyse rounds and notice marginal gains that can be the difference between winning and losing a tournament.
‘An asset’
Tour chief executive Dan Godding said: “Upgame is an enormous asset for any professional golfer and we are delighted to be working with the architects of the application.
“Members will be given the opportunity to use the app to record their own game.
“By doing so we can use up to date stats on our programming and social media as well as offering all our players the chance to see their own stats and percentages in real time.”
Added Sameer Sawhney founder and chief executive of Upgame: “We are delighted to partner with the PGA EuroPro Tour and serve its members with meaningful statistics.
“It is perfectly complementary to our larger vision of empowering every athlete to perform their best using actionable data.
“This also enables us to boost fan engagement for the Tour by using the data for content creation.”
Tom Boys, lead analyst at Upgame said: “We have been working with some of the biggest names in professional golf and are pleased to be able to offer a Tour level service to the PGA EuroPro Tour this year.
Stats collation
“Players will be provided with the basic version of the app to enter their data which will allow us to collect in-depth stats for both the players and the tour.
“Further, we will be offering upgraded options of pre tournament reports and comprehensive end of season reports for players wishing to take their analysis to the next level.”
Upgame offers metrics and features that include measuring dispersions versus intended target line to give a true image of shot patterns, quantifying the end result of a shot.
It also offers a filtering system that allows players to isolate each shot.
Created by a team of golfers, data scientists, engineers and designers, the app is used by PGA /European Tour players, US college teams, national teams and golfers across the globe, UpGame said.
