Choosing a golf destination is both fun and a challenge, and involves factors ranging from course reputation to expense, clubhouse facilities and availability.

So if you could play golf anywhere in the world, where would you go?

It’s an interesting question and one that many golf fans have been pondering for years. Where would you actually go if you could choose any golfing destination?@

The more you think about it, the more challenging the question becomes. You soon realise that there are lots of destinations around the planet offering unique experiences, and you can never enjoy all of them.

If you’re feeling stuck, don’t worry: this post is here to help. We take a look at some of the world’s most prestigious clubhouses and what makes them so special. Here’s everything you need to know:

Abu Dhabi Golf Club

Everyone knows that Abu Dhabi Golf Club is a special place, thanks to the fact that it’s one of the only courses in the world surrounded by sand on all sides.

Even so, it remains one of the top haunts for the rich and famous from across the globe looking for somewhere quiet and beautiful to play a round.

Of course, the clubhouse is exactly what you’d expect from the UAE. It’s uber-opulent and no stone has been left unturned to transform it into one of the most special places in the Emirate (and that’s saying something).

Golfers and their guests can enjoy panoramic views of the course, a five-star restaurant and an on-site spa with every kind of treatment imaginable. Just what you need after a round in the baking sun.

Al Mouj Golf

Just across the border in Oman, there’s another spectacular golf course, named the Al Mouj. It’s a bit more Arabian in character but also offers verdant fairways overlooking the Gulf of Aden.

The special thing about this clubhouse is how it includes so many Omani architectural influences in the design. You have the modern elements alongside classic motifs, transforming the site into one of the most desirable in the world.

Golfers can enjoy fairways overlooking the ocean along with incredible marinas and mountain views. In the clubhouse, numerous dining options are catering to every palate you can imagine, with plenty of local and international cuisine.

Costa Navarino

Heading to Greece, you’ll find the Costa Navarino clubhouse. This spectacular building is one of the country’s leading attractions and draws visitors from across Europe, the Middle East, and the US.

People like the clubhouse because of its unique and natural setting. The modernist building lies in the countryside with spectacular surrounding scenery, offering a sanctuary to those looking to enjoy the finer aspects of the game.

On-site, there’s a variety of amenities for guests to enjoy, including indoor and outdoor dining, swimming pools and spas.

Every little detail has received the luxury treatment, making you feel right at home the moment you enter the door. No expense has been spared in a country that’s been dealing with austerity for over fifteen years.

East Hampton Golf Club

Those looking for something closer to the US might want to try the East Hampton Golf Club. Its claim to fame is the fact its clubhouse was originally built in 1900. Since then, it’s become a magnet for top players across the globe.

Despite the age of the building, the club has done a good job of renovating it recently, returning it to its original grandeur. They’ve thought of everything, both outside and in.

You can watch Euro live US-style, catching up with all the soccer across the pond. You can also enjoy a spa-like experience in the clubhouse amenities.

However, just be careful – some of the facilities can be expensive unless you have one of the higher membership tiers.

Augusta National Golf Club

Another clubhouse worth visiting is the one in Augusta, Georgia. The location is incredibly traditional and a favourite among the connoisseurs of the game.

The location has a stunning property at its heart that embodies the spirit of the game, going back well over a century. Inside, you’ll discover a quintessential Southern-style atmosphere.

You’ll immediately feel like you’re in the Deep South, which is a nice addition since that’s where the course actually lies.

Royal Melbourne Golf Club

If you happen to be Down Under, you might want to check out the Royal Melbourne clubhouse.

This construction is another charming and original building that offers views of the course.

The location isn’t as famous as some of the others, but it still offers a relaxing atmosphere and all the amenities you could ever want after a long day on the course.
