Chauhan, Sinha top PGTI Pre Qualifying II as 26 enter final stage

Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan (75-70) of Gurgaon and Panchkula’s Martendeya Kanishka Sinha (74-71) topped the leader-board at the PGTI’s Pre Qualifying II for the 2020 season after ending the second round on totals of 1-over-145.

In a total field of 88 in Pre Qualifying II, 26 players went through to the Final Qualifying Stage as there was a five-way tie for 22nd place when the cut was declared at 8-over-152 at the Kensville Golf & Country Club near Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan, tied 13th and five shots off the lead after round one, had the day’s best score of 2-under-70 to climb up the standings. Chauhan’s round featured five birdies and three bogeys.

Martendeya Kanishka Sinha mixed three birdies and two bogeys in his round of 1-under-71 that lifted him 11 places from his overnight 12th.

Slipping up

Mumbai-based amateur Keshav Mishra and Gurgaon’s Tinku Badliya, amongst the round one joint leaders, slipped to tied third on 2-over-146s.

The two others in tied third were Ahmedabad-based amateur Anshul Patel and Saurav Rathi of Gurgaon.

Amateur Vinay Kumar Yadav of Gurgaon, also a joint leader from round one, dropped to seventh place on 3-over-147.

Pre Qualifying III will be played on January 10 and 11 also at Kensville.
