Big Indian squad at U.S. Kids Euro Champs, Chaitanya tops his event

A sizeable Indian contingent is currently in Scotland for the European Championship 2019 of U.S. Kids Golf with Chaitanya Pandey of Delhi taking first place in the boys seven years and under section at the Longniddry Golf Course with a 6-under par score.

In all, 32 children in 13 age groups have travelled to the East Lothian area of Scotland for the championship that is being held in 16 categories being played on six courses – Longniddry, Musselburgh Golf Club, Craigielaw Golf Club, Royal Musselburgh Golf Club, Renaissance Golf Club and the Glen Golf Club.

Others who have done well so far include Lavanya Gupta who is tied for first place in the girls 11 years event on a 2-under par total after two rounds at Royal Musselburgh.

On the rise

In the boys 9 years category, Arshvant Srivastava climbed 19 places to tied seventh with an under-par second round. In the same group is Jeev Milkha Singh’s son Harjai with his father on the bag.

Chaitanya, whose group played over nine holes, had a total of 6-under 102, two ahead of South Africa’s Lee Foxcroft. In the same event, Priaan Kantawala of Mumbai was seventh with a 1-over 109.

Mumbai’s Nishna Patel, Ragini Navet of Delhi and Natasha Jaichandra of Bangalore were fifth, sixth and seventh in the girls 13-14 age category.
