Bombay Presidency leg winner Vani Kapoor will be looking to build on her success in the next leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at Gurgaon’s Classic Golf & Country Club.
The field of 38 for the tour’s fifth leg includes five amateurs and carries a purse of Rs.16 lakh, the WGAI said.
Vani, who won a thriller in Mumbai, will be challenged by the likes of Sneha Singh, already a two-time winner this season, Amandeep Drall, who is searching for the form that made her a contender on the Ladies European Tour, Gaurika Bishnoi and Ridhima Dilawari.
Sneha and Ridhima shot 66 and 67 respectively in the final round at BPGC to finish in the top three behind Vani and are looking battle-ready.
Some of the professionals are also using these events to sharpen their game ahead of their planned international schedules.
Indian pros have in recent years been travelling to South Africa, Australia, Europe and South East Asia for more exposure and a good number are on the LET as well.
Sneha, who has won at Kolkata and Pune with Vani finishing second behind her both times, leads the Order of Merit with Vani and Jasmine Shekar right behind her.
The Classic Golf and Country Club has been a regular venue on the Tour, and will be the first of the two events to be staged in the area this month with DLF Golf and Country Club hosting the sixth leg.
