Vidhatri Urs eased into a two-stroke lead with a bogey-free second round of the 10th Leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at Prestige Golfshire near Bangalore on Thursday.
The rookie pro, who won the previous leg at Hosur fired, a 3 under par 69 to lead another up-and-coming pro Jasmine Shekar (74-72), who is searching for her first win.
Vidhatri, who was 3 over 75 with three bogeys and no birdies on the first day, reversed that with three birdies and no bogeys with Jasmine as her playing partner.
On a day play was delayed by rain, Vidhatri parred her first four holes and then found her first birdie on the fifth.
She added ten pars after that before picking up shots on two of the final three holes for a superb 69.
Jasmine had four birdies and four bogeys in her 72 that followed her first round effort of 74.
Big swing
Sneha Singh, last year’s Hero Order of Merit winner, brought in a six-shot improvement on her first round score of 77 with a second day 71.
It was the only other sub-par round of the day and gave Sneha a share of third place on 2 over 146, four behind the leader.
The biggest swing was by another rookie, Anahita Singh who followed her opening 85 with a 1 over 73 to climb into the final round.
First round leader Hitaashee Bakshi was alongside Sneha, Khushi Khanijau (74-74) and Amandeep Drall (72-76) with a second round 78 with just one birdie against one double and five bogeys.
Rhea Jha (76-73) was seventh, while Saanvi Somu (78-72) was the top amateur in eighth place.
Fellow amateur Mannat Brar (74-77) was tied for ninth with Neha Tripathi (73-78), who is coming back from injury.
A total of 27 golfers made the cut at 161 in the Rs.13 lakh event.
