Playing only her third professional tournament, Jasmine Shekar held a share of the lead with a day to go in leg 3 of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Jasmine, who opened the tournament at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club with a level par 72, added a solid 1-over 73 in the second round, the WGAI said.

The Bangalore teenager was alongside favourite Amandeep Drall (70-75) who had a rough middle phase on day two.

Yet another rookie, Kriti Chowhan (75-71) carded one of the only two sub-par rounds on the day to hold sole third place.

Sneha Singh, who disappointed on the first day with a 77, was the best on Wednesday with two-under 70 for tied fourth alongside Khushi Khanijau (75-72).

First leg winner Seher Atwal was tied for sixth with amateur Saanvi Somu (73-76).

Jasmine, who has on a few occasions played the Hero WPG Tour as an amateur, had one bogey and 17 pars, an indication of her solid play.

Amandeep had an early birdie but ran into problems towards the end of the front nine as she bogeyed the closing three holes.

Two further bogeys with a birdie in between meant she finished the day with a 75 but still in a share of the lead.

Kriti Chowhan, who did not play in the first two events, had as many as five birdies but she also gave away two bogeys and a double in her 71.

Sneha Singh had four birdies against two bogeys, while Khushi had two birdies and as many bogeys.

Amateur Janneya Dasanniee (76-74) was eighth, while Shweta Mansingh (71-80) was ninth and Shagun Narain (78-74) rounded off the Top-10.
