David D’Souza and Digboloi Halder from Bangalore emerged as the India winners of the Duke of Edinburgh Cup with 36 points each at the Prestige Golfshire Club on Saturday.
They will now play the World finals of the charity event at the private golf course of Britain’s Royal Family at Windsor Castle near London from September 29 to October 3.
The Bangalore duo’s total of 72 points took them past Hyderabad’s team score of 70 posted by Shashidhar Reddy (38) and former India cricketer Venkatapathy Raju (32) among a total of 100 golfers representing Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore and Pune.
D’Souza and Halder braved the conditions at the picturesque Prestige Golfshire Club near Bangalore to walk away with a glittering trophy and an invitation to the World Finals.
They will be joined by the team of Pranay Puri and Chirag Paul who had earlier won the Delhi leg of the India edition, which was presented by Apollo Tyres in association with Bio Gen Extracts.
Proud moment
“It will indeed be an honour to represent India at the World Finals and all we can hope is that we continue our winning run and make India proud.
