Anvitha, Tvesa exchange top spots on day two of Oxford event

Anvitha Narender climbed one place and into the lead on day two of the Oxford Golf Resort leg of the Hero WPGT in Pune on Wednesday.

First day Tvesa Malik endured a rocky second round after opening with a bogey-free 70, going a 2 over par 74 to swap places with Anvitha, the WGAI said.

Bangalore’s Anvitha, who had a 71 in the first round of the Rs 17 lakh event added a level par 72 in the second with a day to go to go.

Riya Jadon rose to third place with a steady 72 that included three birdies against three bogeys, while Nayanika Sanga (71) sank three birdies against a lone bogey.

Anvitha opened Wednesday with a bogey but birdies on holes nine and 11 helped her recover before she dropped a second shot on 12.

A further birdie against a final dropped shot saw her finish with a 72.

Double trouble

Tvesa had three birdies, but she also gave back three bogeys and a double in her card of 74.

Ketaki Sood (71), Shagun Narain 74) and amateur Priya Kumari (75) were tied for fifth at 3 over 147.

Mannat Brar, one of the three players to shoot under par on the second day, and Ridhima Dilawari (73) were tied for eighth place.

Last year’s Hero Order of Merit winner, Vani Kapoor (73), Khushi Khanijau (75), amateur Aradhana Manikandan (75), Karishma Govind (75), Durga Nittur (75) and Ananya Garg (76) were tied for tenth place.

Durga in fact landed the first hole-in-one of the season on the Par 3 14th from 140 yards.

The cut fell at 154 with 24 professionals and four amateurs goinng into the final day.
