Amandeep in tie for lead at Clover Greens leg of Hero WPGT

Amandeep Drall and Sneha Singh showed the benefit of their time in Europe with fighting displays on day two of the Clover Greens leg of the Hero WPGT on Thursday.

Amandeep in fact fired a solid 4 under par 68 to take a share of the four-way lead after two rounds in the tour’s 12^th leg, while Sneha was a shot behind in sole fifth place, the WGAI said.

Joining Amandeep (75-68) in the lead were Khushi Khanijau (75-68), Ananya Garg (72-71) and first round leader Mannat Brar (70-73). 

Sneha (76-68), who was one of the four players to shoot the day’s best card was one shot ahead of the tie for sixth between Ridhima Dilawari and Karishma Govind (74-71) on 1 over 145.

Ridhima’s 68 included an eagle two, after her opening 77.

Amandeep, who had struggled to 75 on Wednesday, opened with a birdie and added a second on the eighth hole before a bogey on nine saw her turn in 1-under. 

On the back nine, three birdies in a row from holes 11 to 13 saw her make headway before a bogey on 15 and a final birdie on 17.

Profitable run

Khushi had a bogey-birdie sequence on holes six and seven, and then carded four birdies in a five-hole stretch between the ninth and the 13^th before closing with five pars for her 68.

Sneha racked up as many as seven birdies against three bogeys while Ridhima had five birdies and an eagle against three bogeys.

First round leader Mannat carded four birdies against five bogeys for a 73 that kept the amateur in the title hunt.

Anvitha Narender (75-71) and Jasmine Shekar (72-74) were tied for eighth at 146 while amateurs Lavanya Gupta (74-74) and Aaradhya Shetty (73-75) were tied for tenth on 3 over 147.

The cut fell at 9 over 153 and 23 players will play in the final round. Among those missing out was Vidhatri Urs.

Nine players are within three shots of the lead, which means the third and final round could be a cliff-hanger at the Rs.15 lakh event.

The lead group for Friday has Amandeep, Khushi and Ananya Garg, while the second from last group will have Mannat playing alongside Sneha and Ridhima.
