Amandeep Drall holds on for first Hero WPGT win of 2023

Amandeep Drall held off Seher Atwal to claim her first win of 2023 with a level par 70 in the fourth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at Kolkata’s Tollygunge Club on Thursday.

The winner carded a total of level par total of 210 for three days, the WGAI said.

Amandeep, who will be playing on the Ladies European Tour next month, shot 69-71-70, three shots clear of Seher Atwal.

Khushi Khanijau (72) was third while Vani Kapoor (73) was fourth and Neha Tripathi (73) finished fifth.

Amandeep, starting five shots ahead of Seher, bogeyed early twice and a little further into the round, Seher birdied two of three holes to bring the gap down to just one stroke.

However, Seher was unable to maintain her momentum and dropped bogeyed soon after the turn while Amandeep picked up a shot to take her lead to three.

Healthy gap

Both birdied once and then parred the last two holes to finish three shots apart.

Seher’s two-under 68 was the day’s best but it still failed to get her a second title of the season.

Khushi had a rough day with three bogeys against just one birdie in her two-over 72.

Vani Kapoor opened with a double and followed with a bogey and though she would pick up two shots on the way she also had a further two dropped shots to finish with a 73.

Last week’s winner, Sneha Singh (73) was sole sixth, while top amateur Smriti Bhargava (71was tied for seventh with Jasmine Shekar (75) on 223.

Jyotsana Singh, who had one of the day’s two under par cards at 69, and amateur Janneya Dasanniee (75) were ninth and tenth.

The second-place finish carried Seher to the top of the Hero Order of Merit after four events, while Sneha Singh is second.

Amandeep Drall moved up to third with Jasmine Shekar and Khushi Khanijau fourth and fifth respectively on the money List.
